Before the current kyu/dan belt system was utilized, there was a parallel ranking system called Shogo, this word as translated from Japanese means “title”.
Tatsu Te Ryu Karate Systems officially awards the following Shogo:
Senpai, Sensei, Tashi, Renshi, Kyoshi, and Hanshi.
These titles are awarded ONLY to those who actively instruct and are issued independently of any belt ranking. In other words, earning a minimum rank does not instantly confer these upon an individual. In fact, for a TTRKS instructor to use one of these titles, they must be officially appointed and conferred to that title by the founder. Once a Shogo is authorized, the founder will present the recipient with a menjo (certificate), along with a special obi to commemorate this occasion.
Those who have earned a Shogo in Tatsu Te Ryu Karate Systems, their name and title appear below.
