Tatsu Te Ryu Karate-Do is Christ focused style and utilizes the martial arts as a vehicle to reach out to people and lead them in Christian fellowship.
In Tatsu Te Ryu Karate-Do, students learn the self-discipline and physical conditioning of karate as they study the Bible and develop their commitment to Jesus.
We use techniques of karate, the positivity of Christian values and biblical passages to help to build not only on a physical strength, but to help to cultivate an inner strength that comes from a faith in God.
Dojos that teach the system of Tatsu Te Ryu Karate-Do will begin classes with a short devotional/bible study, an opening prayer bringing to the Lord our joys & concerns, it is written
-- 1 John 5:14-15 = This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.-- Also in regards to our full belief in the power of prayer, every class is closed with a benediction.
In addition to the invocation and benediction, Tatsu Te Ryu Karate-Do incorporates what we passionately call our "Bible Katas". These karate forms blend the movements of karate along with a bible passage and are designed to be performed while reciting the scripture.
To denote the advancement of of rank for our students, we utilize a belt system. When creating Tatsu Te Ryu Karate-Do, our system founder decided upon using a 12 colored belts system, this was done in order to show respect, reverence, and honor to the 12 Disciples/Apostles who joined Jesus at the Last Supper & we utilize 10 levels of black belt in reference to the Ten Commandments.
The very colors of the belts that were picked for the system have a specific Christian significance, and scriptures that go along with each them.
Tatsu Te Ryu Karate-Do is indeed a Christ focused style and our belts have been chosen for a religious purpose as well as the very look of our logo.
